Delivering AI-Apps-in-a-Day workshop in Adelaide was an incredible experiene with my Insight teammate Sadat last Thursday!

We had the privilege of working with a room full of enthusiastic learners in South Australia, all eager to build enterprise AI applications using Microsoft Azure cloud and AzureAI services. The energy was electric, a full house of engaged minds ready to turn ideas into reality while prioritizing security and ResponsibleAI.

Our sessions covered Azure AI services like AIFoundry, OpenAI Service, AISearch, and ContentSafety, plus Speech, Vision, and Translator. In the hands-on labs, we explored the RAG pattern, data ingestion, embedding creation, and vector search. It was amazing to see everyone successfully build chatbots powered by their own CosmosDB knowledge base, orchestrated with LangChain.

Together with 50+ passionate participants, Rakesh, Ross and I explained the concept of Copilot Stack, explored AzureAI and various NVIDIA's AI offerings on Azure to develop intelligent apps. 🔥The energy in room was unmatched, and we couldn't be prouder of the efforts and energy from everyone. Being part of the Microsoft Innovation Hub tour in North Sydney with MVPs & RDs tonight was an incredible and inspiring experience! 💡 This hub is a dynamic space showcasing game-changing AI and technology in action.

The presentation on agentic AI were truly fascinating. 🤖 My inner tech geek especially liked the deep dives into SemanticKernel, AutoGen, Magentic-One, and AzureAIFoundry. The demo on medical research using GraphRAG 🔍 is a brilliant example of AI driving real-world impact!

The InnovationHub tour was also eye-opening, featuring innovations across industries: 🏥 Smart hospital bed that monitors patient vitals, enhanced with HoloLens-powered medical visualizations for teaching 🛍️ AI-driven retail solutions tracking stock levels and providing staff with instant insights 📚 Personalized learning AI app designed to help students focus and tailor their education 👀 Accessibility tool using eye-tracking to control computer actions

Our 1st in-person & online GitHub Copilot workshop of 2025 was a big success! 🎉 Over 100 participants from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane joined us to learn, explore, and share how GitHubCopilot can elevate our development experience.

💡 The story I shared during the Copilot presentation, reflecting on my 20 years as a coder. If I have 500 lines of legacy code to rewrite for a migration project:

🔹 20 years ago (when I was young and naive 😎), I would've started typing away ⌨️ - taking days to complete. 🔹10 years ago (when I was young but no longer naive 🤔), I would've googled tools 🔍 to do migration. 🔹Now (when I'm neither young nor naive! 😅), I definitely ask GitHub Copilot to have a go first. ⏳ 15 seconds later, it generated working migrated code in another language & just one minor bug found in testing! ✅

After a full day of workshops, labs, presentations, and hackathons, we wrapped up with drinks 🍹 and great conversations. To top it off, I even scored a free mini gin bottle - winner! (I will drink responsibly).

Together, we explored the power of AzureAI and GitHub Copilot, equipping innovators with the tools to build the next generation of AI-driven applications on Azure.

🔥 Primer Session 1: AI Apps on Azure by Ahmed We kicked things off with a deep dive into Azure's powerful AI ecosystem, exploring how to build GenAI applications. From prompt engineering exercises to demos, participants got their first taste of AI-driven innovation.

⚡ Primer Session 2: Azure AI services & GitHub Copilot by Daniel Taking things to the next level, we explored a number of AzureAI services and LLM techniques like RAG and saw firsthand how GitHub Copilot can supercharge coding - boosting speed, efficiency, and creativity.

🏆 Hackathon & Challenges by Ajay 2-hour live demo on building an AIApp, followed by real-world problem statements featuring six GenAI challenges designed specifically for Anko. Participants will take these challenges home and apply their skills to tackle these AI use cases and drive innovation.

🔜 What's Next: Feedback & Demo Winners will be crowned, 💡solutions will be showcased next week, and we'll witness firsthand how AI is making a real-world impact. With over 60+ super keen participants, the competition is fierce!
